Unhinged tells the story of Karen, a forensics student who has just found out her best friend from high school has been brutally murdered. While her boyfriend David attends college in another town, Karen decides to rekindle her relationships with her other friends from high school, including her ex-boyfriend Chris. Soon, the others become victims of the same serial murderer and it falls to Karen and Chris to try to stop the murders before they themselves become victims.
Shot with a small cast and crew over the course of 11 days in June and July of 2006, and written and directed by Darren Jones, Unhinged is a terrifying and atmospheric low-budget thriller that asks “What would you do if all of your friends were murdered?” Unhinged pays homage to the classic horror-thrillers of the late 70’s, early 80’s such as Halloween and Jagged Edge, set in modern day. Filming took place in a number of locations in and around Vancouver and Abbotsford, British Columbia, mostly at night. A labour of love, Unhinged was a great experience for all involved.
ELENA ESOVOLOVA plays Karen, a Forensics student at the local University, who finds out her friends from high school have been brutally murdered. Elena, originally from Thrums, BC, came to Vancouver to become an actress. After working extensively under Linda Darlow at the School Creative, Elena landed many roles in comedic theatre, and some principle roles in a few commercials. She most recently appeared in a music video "Christmas Rapping" and was a lead in the short "Milk Blood, Pale Fire". She is also an award winning hair dresser and make-up artist, fluent in Russian, plays the Clarinet and has a background in dance. -"I want to be recognized for my craft, work with other great actors/actresses and work with great teams of people.
